Arup was commissioned for the Guangzhou inner ring road (GIRR) traffic surveillance and control system (TSCS) during its procurement and installation.
The objective of the GIRR TSCS is to apply intelligent traffic management technologies to increase the efficiency and safety of the heavily used expressway, with further plans to interface with the outer ring expressway system in Guangzhou.
Commencing with tender evaluation in November 2004, construction works, including technology transfer to the client and users, is scheduled to be completed in early 2007.
